Manchester United Shuts Down MLS All Stars

English Premier League’s Manchester United dominated the Major League Soccer All Stars last night, blanking them 4-0. Though the MLS All Stars had some good scoring chances during the match, Manchester United dominated the full 90 minutes. Man. U’s Wayne Rooney was the star, setting up half of the Reds’ four goals.

Anderson opened up the scoring for United in the 20th minute off a pass from Rooney. After the first 40 minutes, the score held at 1-0 to the Reds’ advantage. But during the second half, the English team busted the game wide open. Ji-Sung Park kept the scoring going by dribbling around an MLS defender and putting the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-0 in the 45th minute. Rooney set up the third goal just seven minutes later with a pass to Dimitar Berbatov that found its way to the back of the net. Capping off the scoring was Danny Welbeck, whose shot deflected off an MLS defender before finding the back of the net.

Manchester United is currently on a tour of the United States before its season begins back in Europe. The win puts the Reds at 4-0 during their time in the States, outscoring their opponents by a margin of 18-2. Man. U will conclude its American tour in Washington in a match against FC Barcelona, a repeat of the Champions League Final, which Barcelona won 3-1.

Manchester City Might Make It

Roberto Mancini, Manchester City manager, believes that Chelsea cannot be ruled out of the Premier League title race – despite their past.

The City are seven points above Carlo Ancelotti’s team and Mancini believes that the champions could still be in contention for the title. “Chelsea could come back again,” he stated. Mancini has always been keen to praise Chelsea, talking them up during the first half of the season as favorites. But their recent dip has seen the two Manchester sides pull away at the top of the Premier League.

Ancelotti’s team are seven points adrift of Manchester United and Manchester City – having played one more game than United and one less than City.
